Michele Philips Reifer

Gosh, reading through all the class of 85's bio's I feel like I've done very little!

I left NY after 2 years at SUNY Cortland. When my Dad retired from the Army, I followed my folks to Atlanta and finished up my Communications degree at Mercer University. My degree was delayed about a year, as I was activated during Desert Storm. I got the news that my unit was being deployed while I was on a trip to WP to go to Holly Fishburnes ring weekend. It was all very surreal. Being stationed in San Antonio was probably one of the best experiences for me. I worked for 8 months in a hospital tending to sick children as well as the Labor and Delivery ward. It was a very good experience and I am grateful to have been able to serve.

I think I am the only person I know that HATED Atlanta and the south all together. I guess I am just a Yankee through and through! I moved to the DC area because two of my best friends lived in the area, Judie Mulligan and Kelli Ripperger. I began working for Enterprise Rent-A-Car as a Mgt. Trainee and (slowly) moved through the training program. I met my husband Eric while working as the trainer. Lots of perks being the company trainer having first dibbs on all the cuties that came through the door. So, out of the 398 people I trained I picked him! I now work in the HR dept. as a recruiter. I spend most of my days mining the internet on hotjobs and monster trying to find desirable candidates to interview. I have one son, Ethan, who is 5 years old. I'm excited about our 20th reunion and look forward to catching up with some old friends.

Greg, I'm gonna have to get back to you on a family photo! I think I'm the only person I know who doesnt have a family photo!

Holly Fishburne West

Greetings classmates. Here is my story in a few lines, 4 days after we graduated, I went to West Point. I met my husband there, and we got married 3 1/2 years later. The assignments that we have had; Germany; Fort Lee, Virginia; Fort Hood, Texas; Lexington, KY; West Point, NY, and finally Fort Knox, KY. We actually live in Elizabethtown (did you see the movie???) KY with our 4 kids, Keegan(10), Lexi(8), Kyle(2) and Daisy (8 mos). It was great to see some people at the 15th reunion, and I hope more will show up for the 20th.

In our last episode (June of 1987), I was heading to the University of Rochester in hopes of earning a degree, playing football, throwing the shotput, and drinking heavily. I'm happy to report that I achieved all of those goals. I hung around Rochester (a great city BTW) after graduation - mostly bartending and taking (very few and well spaced-out) classes toward a Masters in Education (I figured that if Jim Hunter could teach HS Social Studies, I certainly could). I also started taking computer graphics classes, and I soon decided that a change of plans was in order. I bought a Mac, pirated some software, and started earning decent money as a freelance designer (keeping the bartending job of course). Jump to 1998, and an online job search brought me to the Gazette Newspapers in Schenectady, NY (outside of Albany), where I accepted a position as an info-graphics designer (maps, charts, etc.). A year later I moved on to a position at Mehigan, Bellone & Associates - a small media company in Schenectady where I became a web programmer in addition to utilizing my design skills. I'm still there/here by the way. Romance you ask? I met a great girl in 2003 (Wendi Roberts of Brattleboro, VT) and we were married on November 5, 2005. No kids yet, but I'll make sure to update you on our progress. We do have a couple of extra-large cats though that think they're people, so that's something... In addition to spending quality time with Wendi, I play flag football (2006 National Champs - seriously) and throw the shot (silver at the 2006 Empire State Games). I still freelance - mostly illustration and animation work. Visit my online portfolio when you get a chance: (http://www.matusic.com).

The last 20 years have been full of more ups than downs, and I feel fortunate to have a wonderful wife and a career I love. I hope life has treated you all well. Looking forward to hearing all about it...

Cheers.
